Arcadia Reaching Out (Part 2)
At the recent Homeless Connect Day on August 1st at the Albert Waterways Community Centre in Broadbeach, Arcadia facilitated a screen printing workshop.
The Arcadia booth was buzzing with interest from the public on screen printing. This was also an opportunity for the boys to feel connected to the community and display a sense of empathy for those that were in need.
Gold Coast Youth Service and Community Development kindly donated 150 shirts to be screen printed and to be given away to the public. As people lined up for their free shirts, the boys had an opportunity to put into practice a multitude of skills learned while studying their Cert. II in Workplace Practices. From customer service, organisational skills, practical production and time management skills. The boys worked as an assembly line and in shifts, swapping job role to job role. With all components together, the boys sharpened up their employability, and communication skills. During this workshop the guys clocked up a few hours of work experience to boot.
Arcadia will also be obtaining from GCYS and Community Development another certificate of appreciation for their community endeavours. They in my opinion facilitated a very professional and efficient workshop for the event and represented Arcadia with integrity and pride. I would like to congratulate the Arcadia boys on their selfless time and effort that they proudly provided to the Gold Coast Community. Awesome jobs guys!
